Prepress Guidelines

All text embedded in EPS or PDF fonts need to be embedded or converted to outlines before importing into your page layout program to avoid font printing errors.

Bleed: All documents that have any image that extends to the edge of the file need to have bleed. This is an extension of the image that falls past the documents trim edge, 1/8" bleed is standard. Many document layout programs provide a section for applying bleed past the documents edge.

Lockup: Our forms generally needs lockup for printing, which is a 3/8" space where there is no objects on the file. The location of this Lockup gap is determined by the particular press your document will be printed on. Please ask your sales associate for more information regarding the specifics for your particular job.

Variable Databases: Please provide your sales rep with a list of all variable data to be printed. Separate each piece of data with one line return and make sure to let us know the final number of lines so nothing gets left out. If you can, data should be saved in CSV or Microsoft Excel format.

A PDF with embedded or outlined fonts is the easiest type of file for us to work with. Also, please convert all RGB colors to CMYK or Pantone spot colors when applicable. Exporting your file in a PDF/X-1a format will do this for you.
